The healthcare industry is a crucial force in the current job market in Southeast Wisconsin. One out of every four full-time job openings, and one out of every three part-time openings, is in a health-related field. Both the Milwaukee Area Workforce Funding Alliance and the Milwaukee Area Workforce Investment Board have identified preparing a workforce responsive to healthcare employer needs as
a priority.

The Breakthroughs conference gives stakeholders from the healthcare workforce community a unique opportunity to explore innovative initiatives that have transformed the healthcare workforce landscape in cities around our country.  Participants will learn about a variety of strategies that have proved successful in enlarging and upgrading local healthcare talent pipelines.  These best practices will showcase new ways of thinking about recruitment, career laddering, clinical placements and community engagement.

Whether you are a healthcare employer, educator/trainer, funder, or workforce professional, Breakthroughs in Healthcare Workforce Development offers you an opportunity to be part of a cutting-edge healthcare sector strategy for SE Wisconsin.

The conference is sponsored by the Milwaukee Area Workforce Funding Alliance (MAWFA) in partnership with the Milwaukee Area Workforce Investment Board, with  support from the National Fund for Workforce Solutions (NFWS), the Helen Bader Foundation, J.P. Morgan Chase Foundation, Faye McBeath Foundation, Milwaukee Area Healthcare Alliance (MAHA), a partnership between Milwaukee AHEC and the YWCA.
